Sci Fi Geek Jokes Part 7

The Starship Captain's Log

The commanding officer of an exploratory deep-space vessel sits at his desk to record his daily captain's log entry after a long journey through uncharted territory. He activates the voice recorder and speaks in a dramatic tone: 'Stardate 4521.3. We are currently trapped in the gravitational pull of a massive collapsing red giant star. Life support systems are operating at critical levels, the outer hull armor is deteriorating rapidly, and half the bridge crew is affected by space sickness.' He pauses, clears his throat, changes back to his normal everyday speaking voice, and adds, 'And on a secondary personal note, whoever left their half-eaten protein bar inside the main warp drive sensor array needs to clean it up immediately before I cancel movie night on the holodeck.'

The Time Travel Parking Ticket

A temporal law enforcement officer patrols the streets of twenty-first century New York City looking for illegal temporal anomalies left behind by careless time travelers. He spots a pristine, hover-capable sports car parked directly in front of a fire hydrant. Looking closely at the vehicle's dashboard, he notices the temporal registration sticker expired three hundred years in the future. The officer pulls out his electronic ticket scanner, writes up a detailed citation for parking in a restricted temporal zone, and slaps the ticket onto the windshield. Right as he walks away, the sports car vanishes into thin air, leaving behind a small cloud of smoke and a digital note on the asphalt that reads: 'Nice try officer, but I am going to go back to five minutes ago and park on the opposite side of the street.'

The Alien Cultural Exchange

A human diplomat attends a formal state dinner hosted by the ambassador of a newly contacted alien species whose society operates entirely on cold logic and absolute honesty. During the feast, the alien ambassador gestures toward a glowing green delicacy on the table and asks the diplomat, 'How do you find the culinary preparation of our native dish?' The diplomat, trying to be polite despite finding the texture revolting, smiles and replies, 'It is truly a unique and unforgettable flavor experience!' The alien ambassador looks at him with wide optical sensors and says, 'Your heart rate increased by twelve beats per minute and your facial muscles indicate extreme discomfort. According to our diplomatic code, lying about food quality is considered a declaration of orbital war, or an indication that you would prefer the chicken.'

The Software Developer's Time Loop

A software developer wakes up at 7:00 AM, brews a fresh pot of coffee, sits down at his workstation, and starts writing code for a complex web application. At exactly 11:59 PM, right as he finishes compiling the final software build, his computer screen flashes bright red, throws an unhandled null pointer exception, and resets his entire room back to 7:00 AM of the exact same morning. This continuous temporal time loop repeats seventeen times until the developer finally figures out the issue. Instead of trying to fix the complex algorithm bug in his software code, he simply comments out the single broken function line, allowing time to move forward normally to the next day, though nobody in the company ever figures out why the checkout button no longer works.
