The Black Hole at the Galactic Center Restaurant
An astrophysicist, an engineer, and a astronomer decide to open a restaurant right on the event horizon of a supermassive black hole deep in the center of the galaxy. After months of grueling construction, they finally hold their grand opening night. The food is exquisite, the lighting is ambient, and the gravity is immense. However, after three months, they are forced to permanently close down. When an interviewer asks the astrophysicist why the business failed despite rave reviews, he sighs and says, 'The food was out of this world, but the place had zero atmosphere and no customer ever left.'
The Solar Eclipse and the Arrogant Sun
The Sun and the Moon were having a conversation in the night sky during a rare alignment event. The Sun was bragging endlessly about how bright it was, how much energy it supplied to the Earth, and how all life depended entirely on its existence. The Moon listened patiently for hours without saying a single word. Finally, during the peak of a total solar eclipse, the Moon stepped directly in front of the Sun, blocked out all light across the continent, turned to the Sun, and whispered, 'Cool story, bro, but guess who just stole your spotlight?'
The Constellation and the Telescope Engineer
A stargazing enthusiast recently purchased a brand new, high-powered telescope to observe deep-sky objects from his backyard. After setting up the tripod and aligning the lenses, he pointed the device toward Orion's Belt. His neighbor walked over, looked through the eyepiece, and asked, 'So, what do you think of the view?' The enthusiast smirked and said, 'Honestly? I'd give Orion's Belt three stars out of three!'
The Light Year Distance Misunderstanding
A photon checks into a luxurious hotel after traveling through space at 186,000 miles per second for three billion years. The front desk clerk hands the photon its room key, looks at its lack of luggage, and asks, 'Sir, would you like me to call a bellhop to help you carry your bags up to your suite?' The photon smiles, adjusts its wavelength, and replies, 'No thanks, I'm traveling light!'
