Particle Physics Jokes

The Higgs Boson Enters the Catholic Church

The Higgs boson walks into a grand cathedral during a Sunday afternoon service and walks straight up the center aisle toward the altar. The priest stops his sermon in shock, rushes down the steps, and sternly says, 'Excuse me, but you cannot be in here! We do not allow subatomic particles in the house of God!' The Higgs boson looks at the priest with absolute confidence and replies, 'Listen father, without me, how do you expect to have any mass?'

The Tachyon Leaves the Bar Before Arriving

A tachyon walks into a quiet downtown bar, orders a cold pint of IPA, drinks it all in one gulp, pays the bartender, and leaves a generous tip. The bartender looks up from wiping down the counter, blinks in total confusion, and asks, 'Hey, who just ordered a drink?' The tachyon turns around from outside the front door and shouts, 'I did, about five minutes from now!'

The Antimatter Collision at the Coffee Shop

A piece of matter and a piece of antimatter bumped into each other while trying to order coffee at a crowded downtown café during morning rush hour. The matter looked at the antimatter, apologized profusely, and held out a hand for a handshake to make amends. As soon as their hands touched, there was a blinding flash of gamma radiation, an enormous explosion, and the entire city block vanished into energy. The barista, watching from a distance, sighed and muttered, 'I knew those two had zero neutral chemistry.'

The Neutrino Passing Through the Solid Wall

A neutrino walks straight through a ten-foot-thick solid lead wall without slowing down, breaking a sweat, or disturbing a single atom in the metal lattice. On the other side of the wall, a group of heavy metals including Gold, Lead, and Uranium were hanging out, looking amazed. Uranium called out, 'Hey man, how do you manage to pass through solid matter without interacting with anything?' The neutrino didn't even turn around, keeping its velocity constant, and yelled back, 'I just don't let weak forces hold me down!'
